Frequently Asked Questions:

1.  Why do people use indoor UV devices?
Indoor UV devices provide a controlled environment compared to outdoor exposure with
variables that change constantly, including time of year, time of day, cloud cover,
elevation, location relative to equator, and others.  Also, indoor UV devices requires only
short sessions compared to outdoors -- so time is often a factor.

2.  What is the difference between the levels?
Level 1 beds are 20 minutes and provide a higher relative amount of UVB,
which will help your skin produce melanin.  This bed is ideal for
fair-skinned tanners to start with.

Level 2 includes the 10 minute stand-up and two(2) 12 minute facial
beds. These units have more UVA which will tan you faster.

Level 3 includes two(2) high performance 12 minute facial beds.
These beds have an even higher amount of UVA to get you tan quickly.

The Ultrabronz is a high pressure unit that provides the highest
amount of UVA and very little UVB to give you the maximum tanning
power in a single session.

Some members are visiting our salon for reasons other than a cosmetic tan.
Please discuss your situation with our staff in order to choose the right unit.

3.  What is UVB and UVA?
In general terms, UVB is more efficient in producing melanin in your skin.  UVB is also
responsible in producing Vitamin D naturally.  UVA is more efficient in browning the
melanin.  A mixture of UVB/UVA is required for the tanning process.  However,
depending on your genetic heritage, you may not need a higher amount of UVB to
stimulate melanin production because you already have a higher amount built up in your
skin.  This is why we have lighter skin types start with Level 1 and medium and dark
skin types start in a higher level.

4.  What does high pressure mean?
High pressure refers to the types of lamps that are in the UV
units.  High pressure lamps are smaller lamps compared to the low
pressure lamps that are usually in indoor UV units.  The high pressure lamps
emit a different amount and different mixture of UV.  With mostly UVA
and at a higher amount, you tan the fastest.  High pressure is ideal to
give your tan a huge boost and also for lighter skin types who don't have
time to work on their tan in Level 1.

5.  How do I decide with what level to use?
In general, as you move to a higher level or to the UltraBronz, you
receive more UVA than UVB which translates to a darker, faster, and
longer-lasting tan.  You won't have to come in as often and your potential
to get darker is better with the higher beds.  However, to decide what
level to choose, it is a mixture of your skin type, your availability to come
in, and your preference in the bed types.  Lighter skin types should use
Level 1 to build up their tan and then move to the higher levels.  Or if time
is limited, then use the UltraBronz.  Medium to dark skin types are better
suited for Level 2 or Level 3.  And again to get a super dark tan, then
upgrade to the UltraBronz.  However, you can choose whatever Level
you prefer and you will get tan.  Check with our staff to get more
information on what will work best for you. Also, consider that the higher
levels have lower session time and other features on the bed, including
facial lamps that can turn off, high powered fans, and more comfort (to
name just a few). If you are visiting for reasons other than a cosmetic tan, please
discuss with our staff to decide what will work best for you.

6.  What are skin types?
Upon signing up for the first time, you will receive a Skin Type
Analysis. Based on the results, you will be either Skin Type 1, 2, 3, or
4. Skin Type 1 is the lightest of skin types, and Skin Type 4 is the
darkest.  Your skin type will determine your first session time and can
also be used as a guide to determine what Level of bed to use.

7.  What is an upgrade?
An upgrade is when you use a higher level for the day. From Level 1
to 2 is $5, Level 2 to 3 is $5, and Level 1 to 3 is $10.  Upgrades for the
UltraBronz or Magic Tan are $5, $10, and $15 (from Level 3, 2, and 1, respectively).
You can upgrade for the day whether you have sessions or
monthly memberships. You must have an active
membership in order to upgrade. A Single Session is not an upgrade.

8.  Why use a lotion?
There are many reasons to use a tanning product.  Tanning lotions
enable your skin to produce melanin faster and more efficiently.  A
lotion will also create a highly effective layer for UV to penetrate your
skin.  Also, you will get maximum moisturizers and anti-oxidants to
help nourish your skin.  And don't forget, you will not get fillers with
any of our products.  Bottom line: you get tan faster and don't have to
come in as often!

9.  Is it okay to shower right after a session?

Showering after your session does not halt or diminish the process.  In general,
showering after your session or at other times, dries your skin.  Therefore, you should
always moisturize after showering/bathing.  Additionally, if you are using a bronzing
lotion, then you should give the bronzer time to adhere to your skin.  Otherwise you are
washing off the bronzer if you shower immediately after your session.

10.  Do you have some information on the Magic Tan spray process?

The Magic Tan is an automated spray booth system which sprays a bronzing solution on
your skin.  The spray adheres to the dead skin on the outer layers and turns brown after
several hours of exposure.  We have researched several manufacturer's solutions,
including Magic Tan, Mystic Tan, California Tan, and others.  The solution we use is
clear (without added brown makeup).

11.  Do you offer an Unlimited Membership?

We do no use the word "unlimited" because this implies absolutely no limit to your
membership -- there is a limit.  By California law, you can only visit once every calendar
day (i.e. from one day to the next).  You can not visit more than once a day. Any of our
memberships can be used on a daily basis -- sessions or monthly memberships.  Just
keep in mind that there may be an expiration date to your membership. Additionally,
depending on what level of unit you have chosen, you are limited to that level or below
it.  You can upgrade to a higher unit for an upgrade fee.

12.  How do I cancel or freeze my Easy Pay automatic monthly membership?
We only allow online cancel/freeze requests, click
here. Remember: all cancellations or
freezes must be received by the 15th if your billing date is on the 1st.  Some older Easy
Pay members have a billing date of the 15th. In this case, your cancellation or freeze
must be received by the 1st.
